Bhubaneswar: Odisha shuttler Swetaparna Panda has reached a career-high mark in junior world rankings.
The 17-year-old climbed 14 places to break into the top 10 of mixed doubles.
As per the latest BWF Junior Rankings, Swetaparna is at No. 9, with 8990 points. She is the first Odia, as well as only Indian to be ranked in top 10 of junior mixed doubles.
Serbian Andjela Vitman tops the list, while Chinese girls Liao Pin Yi and Huang Ke Xin are tied second.
In junior women’s singles, Swetaparna moved up 16 places to world No. 22.
Swetaparna made history last year when she reached the mixed doubles semifinals of the Odisha Open BWF Super 100 meet in Bhubaneswar, playing with Balkeshari Yadav. She thus became the first shuttler from Odisha to make the semifinals of any BWF Super 100 tournament.
