Odisha SI Exam Scam: Balasore Man Let Off After 2 Days Of Grilling By Crime Branch

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Crime Branch has reportedly gathered certain key information regarding police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination scam during intensive interrogation of a man, who was picked up from Balasore district.

Sources said that Crime Branch sleuths grilled the man, identified as Chandan Mallick from Ransahi Panchayat of Balasore district, in a marathon exercise that lasted two days.

Chandan, who had been picked up by the Crime Branch late on Sunday, has reportedly been let off after marathon grilling by the investigators in the sensational SI recruitment exam scam.

It was stated that Chandan had introduced himself as a social worker and was actively involved in various local activities.

Notably, the total number of individuals arrested in connection with the scam stands at 119.
Earlier, the Crime Branch had arrested Arabinda Das from Nabara village under Singla police station limits in Balasore. Initially, a raid was conducted at his ancestral house in Nabara by Basta Police, but he was later traced and apprehended from Rajpur village in Jaleswar.

Investigators are probing whether Arabinda directly collected money from candidates or acted as an intermediary arranging aspirants for brokers. Officials also seized certain objectionable documents from his possession.

Similarly, the Crime Branch had earlier arrested Biswaranjan Behera from the Barang police station area in Bhubaneswar.

Meanwhile, another man from Polsara area of Ganjam district was also interrogated by Crime Branch sleuths as part of the probe. The man, who operated a computer institute in Shandha Sahi–Shriramnagar, is suspected to have facilitated a center for the police SI examination there.
