Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch of Odisha Police is likely to conduct a polygraph (lie detector) test on Shankar Prusty, the mastermind in the Sub-Inspector recruitment scam.
Sources said the move to go for a lie detection test was mooted as Prusty was reportedly not cooperating with the investigators during the probe.
Prusty has been providing unsatisfactory answers to multiple questions and he does not appear to be in a mood to cooperate. Even when presented with evidence, he reportedly tries to mislead officers and confuse the probe team, officials said.
The current judicial remand period of Prusty is set to expire on Saturday.
In another significant development in the case, Suresh Nayak, owner of Bhubaneswar-based Silicon TechLab, is also set to undergo a lie detection test as part of the ongoing investigation.
According to officials, the test is required to verify statements and gather clarity on key aspects of the case.
The Crime Branch is continuing its investigation into the allegations, which involve significant irregularities in the police SI recruitment process.
The Crime Branch is yet to decide the exact timeline for the completion of the tests, which form part of a broader effort to ensure a transparent and thorough investigation.
Notably, the Crime Branch of Odisha Police arrested Prusty from Uttarakhand near the Indo-Nepal border in Uttarakhand on Saturday and brought him to Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
Prusty, who owns Panchsoft Technologies, had been absconding since the scam surfaced and was reportedly attempting to flee the country when the Crime Branch team intercepted him.
