Odisha & Singapore Sign MoUs For Industrial Parks, New City, Energy & Skilling In Semiconductors

Bhubaneswar: A series of MoUs were exchanged between the Mohan Majhi government and various Singaporean entities on Friday, marking a significant milestone in the growing partnership between Singapore and Odisha.

The MoUs were signed at the World Skill Center in Bhubaneswar in the presence of Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Deputy CMs K V Singh Deo and Pravati Parida and other state ministers.

The collaborations in key sectors are as follows:

1. Industrial Parks: MoU signed between Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) and Sembcorp, Singapore.

2. Green Hydrogen Corridor: MoU between Idco and Sembcorp, Singapore.

3. Petrochemical and Petroleum Investment Region (PCPIR): MoU between Idco and Surbana Jurong, Singapore.

4. Development of New City: MoU between Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Surbana Jurong, Singapore.

5. New Energy: Collaboration between Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Gridco, and IIT Bhubaneswar.

6. Strengthening FinTech Ecosystem: MoU between the Electronics & IT Department, Odisha, and Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN), Singapore.

7. Advancing Skill Landscape: MoU between Skill Development & Technical Education Department, Odisha, and ITE Education Services (ITEES), Singapore, focusing on advanced skilling.

8. Skill Development in Semiconductor Sector: MoU Skill Development & Technical Education Department, Odisha, and ITE Education Services (ITEES), Singapore, focusing on semiconductors.

Earlier, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja made a detailed presentation, covering skill development, industrial parks, master planning, ports and Paradip, renewable energy, semiconductors, information technology, data centres, culture, and connectivity, highlighting Odisha’s initiatives and opportunities for collaboration with Singapore in these crucial sectors.

The Chief Minister expressed enthusiasm for the deepening ties and presented a memento and shawl to Shanmugaratnam as a symbol of the enduring partnership between Odisha and Singapore.

During the visit, the Singapore President also toured the Vertical Transportation Lab and Travelator Lab at the World Skill Center, showcasing Odisha’s commitment to fostering technical education and innovation. He also interacted with the students and instructors there.

Shanmugaratnam is on a two day visit to Odisha, as a part of his State Visit to India at the invitation of President Droupadi Murmu to mark the six-decade-long relationship between the countries.

On Saturday, he will be travelling to Konark to visit the Sun Temple as well as an artist’s village. He will also visit the vaccine manufacturing plant of Bharat Biotech on the outskirts of the state capital.
