[Watch] Humane Sagar’s Wife Opens Up About Marital Discord, His Alcoholism & ‘3rd Person’

Puri: Amid ‘supposed’ efforts for an amicable solution, the marital spat between playback singer Humane Sagar and his wife Shriya Mishra is getting uglier with every passing day. After domestic violence and religious conversion allegations, she has now accused the singer of having an ‘extramarital affair’.

Addressing a presser on Sunday, Shriya said, “Presence of a ‘third person’ led to the discord. It would be not appropriate to reveal the name of that person as we have taken time to resolve the issue amicably.”

Shriya further said that Humane Sagar started torturing her after the birth of their daughter. “The torture increased gradually and I kept mum all these years since he is a celebrity and I did not want to malign his image. All efforts to solve it went in vain. When the torture became unbearable and he even attempted to kill me on September 27 last year in presence of my daughter and housekeeper Santosh, I approached the police,” she said.

She alleged that Humane was an alcoholic and thrashed her and punched her in the face whenever she stooped him from drinking. “I had sustained injuries on my face and hid a big scar on the hand under a tattoo. I had advised him to reduce liquor consumption for his own health and career since his recordings were getting cancelled. I would even hide the keys of the closet where alcohol was kept and that is when he would hit me,” she said, adding that it began as he excelled in his career and got more shows.

When they tried for a compromise, Humane and his family abused and threw her and her family out of their house, following which she shifted to her parental house in Balasore.

“There was no attachment between him and his daughter. He never took her responsibility,” she said, adding that her last direct interaction with him was about five months back.

Talking about her inter-religion marriage, Shriya said that her in-laws, who follow Christianity, prohibited her from applying sindoor, but she was never tortured over this matter. She also expressed displeasure over her mother-in-law’s statement about her mother.

She further said Humane has not contacted me after counselling at the police station. “They are speaking to the media but not to us. I don’t feel that he and his family members are interested to resolve the matter,” she added.

Shriya, who has left her husband’s house in Cuttack and living at her parental house in Balasore for over five months, had lodged a complaint at Mahila police station accusing Humane of physically and mentally torturing her for the last few months following which they were summoned for counselling on Thursday. After counselling, the couple has been given two days’ time to settle the dispute amicably and asked to report to the police again on January 30 if they failed to reach a compromise.

Humane Sagar married Shriya Mishra in 2015, his fellow participant in the show Voice of Odisha Season 2. They have a daughter.
