Bhubaneswar: A software engineer, who had arrived in Odisha from Hong Kong on January 24, was discharged from SCB Medical College and Hospital here after he tested negative for the novel coronavirus. A native of Jagatsinghpur, he was admitted to the hospital late on Tuesday.
With this, samples of all the three suspected persons admitted to SCB have tested negative for the virus and all of them discharged from the hospital.
The software engineer worked in a private firm in Hong Kong and had returned home after a brief trip to China. He showed symptoms of coronavirus and was rushed to the hospital. His swab and blood samples were later sent to National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for tests.
A medical student from China and a native of Phulbani was discharged from SCB after being tested negative for coronavirus the same day the engineer was admitted.
Another MBBS student from Wuhan province, the epicentre of coronavirus in China, was admitted to the premier hospital after she underwent thermal screening at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar on February 2 and was found in poor health.
