Jajpur: Ace sprinter from Odisha Dutee Chand was allegedly caught violating COVID guidelines by participating in the immersion ceremony of Goddess Khudurkuni in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
Dutee was among the hundreds of villagers of Chakagopalpur under Kuakhia police limits who were taking out a massive immersion ceremony of the goddess.
The revellers were dancing to the tunes of loud music played by DJ van engaged by the villagers when local police raided the area and found the villagers violating COVID guidelines of wearing masks and social distance. The limitation on large gatherings in public places was also violated.
When the men in uniform stopped the revellers and tried to disperse them, Dutee encountered them. In a video that went viral, she can be seen trying to use her influence to stop the cop, who was duty-bound and went ahead with his job.
Despite repeated attempts, Dutee could not be contacted for comments. Her phone was later found to have been switched off.
