Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrata Sahu on Monday asked the Energy department to take immediate steps for quick restoration of power supply in areas affected by thunderstorm
In a letter to the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Energy department, the SRC asked him to advise the Discoms (power distribution companies) to make all arrangements for immediate restoration of power in storm-affected areas.
The SRC in his letter stated that the Discoms are taking too much time to restore power snapped in certain areas due to falling trees/branches under the impact of thunderstorm activities
Such inordinate delay in power restoration is hampering the proper functioning of lifeline institutions and causing much inconvenience to the public during peak summer, he said.
The Discoms may also take support from local Fire Stations and ODRAF for the removal of uprooted trees, the letter added.
