Odisha State Athletics: Cuttack Win Overall Title; 22 Meet Records Rewritten

Bhubaneswar: Cuttack emerged as overall champions in the 70th State Senior Athletics Championship which concluded at Kalinga Stadium on Friday.

Team Cuttack topped by securing 312 points, while Sundargarh were a distant second with 200 points.

In girls’ under-20 category, Sundargarh were best with 86 points, while Cuttack (61) topped boys’ U-20 category.

In the U-23 category, Sundargarh were declared champions with 37 points among girls and Cuttack claimed first place with 80 points among boys’ teams.

Odisha Police were adjudged champions in both men’s and women’s categories.

As many as 22 meet records were rewritten during the three-day championships.

The closing ceremony recognised the finest athletes of the three-day competition across track and field events and was graced by dignitaries, including

Odisha Athletics Association president GS Pattanaik, OAA secretary Aashirbad Behera, Director of Hockey Promotional Council of Odisha Deepankar Mohapatra were among dignitaries who attended the closing ceremony and presented the medals.

* Animesh Kujur of Bhubaneswar — 2 meet records in boys U-23 100m and 200m in 10.38 secs and 20.65 secs, respectively.

* Swagat Kumar Behera of Jharsuguda – U-20 boys triple jump with 14.85 metres

* Sunaram Murmu of Mayurbhanj — U-23 boys javelin with 62.70 metres.

* Pradip Mahanta of Mayurbhanj — U-20 boys 5000m in 14 mins 56.94 secs.

* Nikhil Das of Cuttack — U-23 boys high jump event with 2.01 metres.

* Chiranjib Singh of Cuttack — U-23 boys shot put with 13.91 metres.

* P Arpita Archana Sahoo of KIIT — U-20 girls javelin with 42.98 metres.

* Dhanmati Xess of Sundargarh — U-23 girls javelin with 41.67 metres.

* Jyoti Prakash Nayak of Cuttack – U-23 boys hammer throw with 49.11 metres.

* Divya Shandilya of Paradip Port – Women’s hammer throw with 57.67 metres

* Nikita Purbiya of Paradip Port — U-23 girls hammer throw with 37.36 metres.
