Bhubaneswar: Veteran actor Jayiram Samal was honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award at a glittering function of Odisha State Film Awards in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
Governor Raghubar Das, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Minister of Odia Language, Literature & Culture Suryabanshi Suraj presented the awards to the winners of the State Film Awards in 32 categories for 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Jayiram Samal, popularly known as Jayee, has been playing various roles in various shades in Odia cinema. But his role as comedian stands out. Besides films, he has appeared in several television serials and plays. He has acted in over 300 films, television serials and plays.
While Jayee was presented ‘Mohan Sunder Deb Goswami’ award for 2022, director Anant Mohapatra was conferred the award for 2020 and filmmaker Srinibas Mohapatra for 2021.
The best film award for 2022 was given to ‘Daman’ while Babusan Mohanty was conferred the Best Actor award and actress Lopamudra Mishra the Best Actress award for ‘Baura Hata Baksha’ for the same year.
The award is instituted by the Odia Language, Literature and Culture department.
