Bhubaneswar: Sundargarh were far too superior for KIIT/KISS University, winning the final of the Odisha State Sub-Junior Hockey Championship 6-1 on Friday.
Sundargarh thus bagged a double crown, having earlier lifted the state junior title overcoming Deogarh 1-0.
Dhenkanal finished third in the Hockey Association of Odisha-organized sub-junior tournament, beating Sambalpur 6-1 in the bronze playoff match.
Sundargarh players won most of the individual awards, with Vivek Lakra being adjudged Best Goalkeeper of the tournament, Deepak Pradhan Best Forward and Bilkan Oram Player of the Tournament.
Rohit Kullu of Dhenkanal received the Best Defender’s award and Sanjiba Majhi of KIIT/KISS Best Midfielder.
