Cuttack: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch apprehended a drug peddler and seized 1.022-kg brown sugar worth around Rs 1 crore, during a raid near Kalibiri bridge under Tigiria police limits in Cuttack district on Tuesday.
The arrested has been identified Suryakanta Mantry (32) of the same locality.
“The accused person could not produce any valid authority in support of the contraband, for which he was arrested. He will be forwarded to the court of Additional Sessions cum Special Judge, Athagarh,” an STF release said.
A case has been registered under Section 21(c) of NDPS Act 1985 and further investigation is underway, it added.
