Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha police has arrested a drug peddler and seized brown sugar from him during a special operation in Keonjhar district.
A joint raid was conducted by a team of STF, Bhubaneswar, and Keonjhar district police at Silun Chhak under Keonjhar Town Police Station against illegal dealing/possession of narcotic drugs on Sunday. One person was apprehended during the raid.
The accused has been identified as Debananda Samal (37) of Ambo in Anandapur area of the district, STF said in a release on Monday.
During the search, contraband brown sugar weighing 520 grams, a car, and other incriminating materials were recovered and seized from his possession.
The accused person could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of such contraband materials, for which the accused person was detained and handed over to Keonjhar Town Police for necessary legal action.
It may be noted here that since 2020, STF has seized more than 72 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin, 202 grams of Cocaine, and more than 116 quintals of Ganja/Marijuana, Opium 3 kg 650 gram seizure and arrested more than 182 drug dealers/peddlers.
