Nayagarh: A student went missing after allegedly being denied permission to appear in the annual HSC exam, which began across Odisha on Friday, for not wearing uniform.
The student has been identified as Pradip Nayak of Radhamadhab Nodal High School at Daspalla in Nayagarh district. Dasapalla High School was his allotted centre.
When he did not return home, his family members lodged a complaint at Daspalla police station. “Pardip was told by a teacher, Rajalaxmi Mohaptra, that he won’t be allowed to appear for the exam since he was not in uniform,” mother Deepali Nayak told the media.
According to sources, he left home at 7 am in a white shirt and black jeans. The family said that being poor they were unable to buy the uniform.
Dasapalla BEO Raj Kishore Maharana denied having received report about any such instance from any school under his jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, police began a probe into the complaint and searched his house at Patna Sahi at Khrushnachandrapur and the school campus.
However, locals later spotted him sitting under a tree near Bhutapalli and informed his parents.
