Odisha: Student Leader Harishankar Rout Quits BJD

Bhubaneswar: Student leader Harishankar Rout on Thursday said he has resigned from Biju Janata Dal (BJD) as he was disillusioned with the state of affairs in the party.

Rout alleged that both student and youth wing appointments were made in an inappropriate manner under the influence of a coterie in the regional outfit.

He further alleged that BJD is in a very bad shape only because an influential group, and people have already given their reply in the last elections

Rout further stated that he has worked for the party for the last 20 years and was promised thrice  that he would be made president of student wing in 2017, then in 2020 and 2025.

Senior BJD leaders were not immediately available for comment on the allegations made by Rout.
