Bhubaneswar: Swimmer Pratyasa Ray won a silver medal in U-17 girls 200-metre backstroke event by clocking 2.34:79 minutes at the ongoing 64th National School Games Swimming Championships at Talkotra Stadium in Delhi, on Tuesday.
Odisha hopes that she keeps the momentum in the 100 and 50-metre backstroke events in the championship to be held on December 18 and 19 respectively.
Pratyasha became the first Odia swimmer to win an international medal in swimming when she clinched two gold and a silver medal for the country at the South Asian Aquatic Championship (SAAC) – 2016 held at Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Earlier that year, she had bagged three gold medals in the girls’ (13-14 years) category at the 43rd Junior National Aquatic Championship in Bengaluru.
