Malkangiri: A teacher of a government school in Odisha’s Malkangiri district has been arrested for his alleged involvement in Gujarat junior clerk recruitment exam question leak case.
The accused was identified as Saroj Malu. He is posted as a teacher at Kartanpalli Government High School in the district.
According to sources, the teacher had answered the leaked paper of the competitive exam for the recruitment of junior clerks and shared it with an organised gang from multiple coaching centres in Vadodara and Ahmedabad. Police found the question paper was leaked hours before its scheduled time on Sunday, which affected 9,53,000 candidates, who had filed applications for the 1,150 vacant posts.
The Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board (GPSSB) decided to postpone the exam after police detained a suspect and recovered a copy of the question paper of the exam early Sunday morning. The detainee then spilled the beans on the paper leak leading to the arrest of 15 other accused.
The interrogation of the accused also revealed the origin of the shared answers of the leaked paper. Subsequently, a police team from Gujarat arrived in Malkangiri and apprehended Malu with the help of local police. He will be taken to Gujarat on transit remand for further questioning.
