Balasore: Pitambar Khilar, a teacher in Bahanaga block of Odisha’s Balasore district, was honoured by the World Book of Records in London for his ‘matchless contribution in promoting educational cause to serve humanity.’
A teacher at Khetramohan High School in Bahanaga, Khilar wrote a 280-page article in August, this year on the challenges faced by the Indian education system and how to overcome these.
This apart, the teacher has also made a documentary film on his paper, which impressed the World Book of Records. They invited him to felicitate in New Delhi on October 29, sources said.
Educational leaders and decision-makers from around 15 countries attended the event where certificates of excellence were distributed by Corina Sujdea, Romania, founder of RELTTAW for their matchless contribution in promoting educational cause.
Khillar was later invited to a world conference organised by the World Book of Records in London. This conference was attended by representatives of 45 countries from seven continents and Khilar was the only participant from India.
Khilar had also received the India Excellence award from the Prime Time Research Media recently. He was also felicitated by UNESCO for his research in educating tribal students.
Khilar says his focus has always been on eradicating superstition from the society and bringing the downtrodden to the mainstream by imparting proper education.
