Bhubaneswar: A schoolteacher in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur was dismissed from service for allegedly submitting a forged caste certificate while joining the job around 20 years ago.
Sources said Susanta Kumar Mandal, a Sikshya Sahaya
k at Brundaban Bihari Government High School at Goda under Erasama block, was sacked by the district administration after a detailed investigation.
Mandal had been appointed as a Sikshya Sahayak at the government high school in 2007. It was alleged that he had submitted a Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate to secure the job.
Subsequently, the appointment was challenged in the Orissa High Court. While disposing the case, the HC had directed the Jagatsinghpur district Collector to conduct a detailed investigation into the issue and take appropriate steps in this regard.
During investigation, the district Collector came to know that Mandal had secured the caste certificate by misleading the authorities concerned.
The authorities of Sarva Sikshya Abhiyan (SSA) in the district removed Mandal from service as per the instruction issued by the Collector, sources added.
