Cuttack: Teachers who staged agitation at the office of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) seeking grace marks to qualify the special Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) are likely to get show cause notice and face action.
According to sources, following complaint by BSE the directorate of elementary education has directed the officials concerned to issue show cause notice and initiate action against the teachers who staged agitation at BSE office in Cuttack.
The move also aims at preventing recurrence of such incidents. In future, government school teachers will have to take permission from their respective Block Education Officers (BEOs) before leaving headquarters. Particularly, those wanting to visit the BSE office will have to avail permission from their respective BEOs before proceeding.
Sources said the BSE secretary had written to the director of elementary education seeking disciplinary action against the agitating teachers. It was stated that after the publication of results, around 200 teachers from different parts of the state who failed to qualify in the test had come to the BSE office and staged a demonstration. They shouted slogans demanding grace marks from January 11 to 13.
It was stated that the presence of the teachers had created disturbance in office work, especially when BSE was busy preparing for OSSTET and OTET examinations.
