Bhubaneswar: Amita Panda, an IT professional from Odisha, recently won the Mrs India Galaxy 2018 title. She will be returning home with the crown and sashes on Wednesday morning.
Amita emerged as the winner among 40 finalists from different parts of the country in the ‘Classic’ category of the beauty pageant organised in New Delhi.
A fitness freak, music lover and fashion enthusiast, she is married to a doctor for the last seven years and mother of a three-year-old girl.
Stating that the crown was a recognition of the real women power in our society, the 30-year-old techie dedicated it to all the unsung fellow women. She is currently working with MindTree in Bhubaneswar.
Somya Sharma, a 36-year-old entrepreneur from Lucknow, bagged the Mrs India Galaxy 2018 title in the ‘Gold’ category.
Television actress Divya Malik, fashion designer Sadan Pande and celebrity stylist Sylvie Rodgers, Mrs Universe Arabasia Anupama Sharma and TV actor Sunny Sachdeva judged the event.
Mrs India Galaxy, a brainchild of Ginny Kapoor and Gagan Kapoor, is a beauty pageant with a cause. It aims to bring back the confidence of women who have been victims of domestic violence and abuse. This yearly event provides a platform to Indian women across the globe to prove their potential, regain self-confidence and reinstate self-worth.
“This is a very heartfelt gesture. These women, who have fought domestic violence and abuse, are oozing with confidence now after the grooming session,” said jury member Sadan.
