Odisha Teen Goes Viral After Fighting Off Wild Boar Bare Hands In Canal [Watch]

Kataka: A routine bath at a local canal took a terrifying turn for a 14-year-old boy in Odisha’s Kataka district on Tuesday, when he had to fight a wild boar in a desperate bid for survival.

Suman Behera, a Class IX student from Gopalpur village under Dampada block in Banki area, was bathing in the canal when the wild animal unexpectedly charged at him and pursued him into the water. With nowhere to flee, Suman showed extraordinary composure, refusing to panic as he engaged in a fierce, prolonged struggle with the aggressive animal. He managed to grab the boar tightly by its neck, holding on with all his strength to defend himself and prevent further attacks.

He held onto the boar till villagers became aware of the situation and alerted the Banki fire services team. When rescuers reached the spot, they found the teenager still locked in combat with the wild animal. The team carefully restrained the boar with a rope around its neck and successfully pulled Suman to safety, ending the dangerous encounter. The animal was later released into a nearby forest.

Suman, who sustained injuries during the attack, was rushed to the Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. Doctors reported that his condition was stable. A video of the dramatic rescue has since gone viral on social media, drawing attention to the teenager’s extraordinary composure.

His father, Sudarsan Behera, said the family had never before encountered wild boars in the area and described his son’s courage as an example for the entire community.
