Balasore: In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide on Tuesday after she was barred from using a smartphone by her mother in Balikuti village of Odisha’s Balasore district. The deceased has been identified as Gitanjali Dalai, daughter of Ashwini Kumar Dalai. She was a student of Class 10.
According to reports, Gitanjali allegedly consumed poison after she was barred from playing games on the smartphone. Gitanjali’s mother allegedly scolded her for continuously using the mobile phone and snatched it from her, reports said.
The minor girl, in an enraged state of mind, locked herself in a room and allegedly consumed poison.
She was rushed to Baliapal hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
On being informed, the local police arrived at the spot and sent the body for post-mortem and registered an unnatural death case in this connection.
