Bhubaneswar: After a thorough of the process for settlement of Shree Jagannath’s land, the Odisha government has decided to develop an e-portal to streamline and bring greater transparency to the exercise.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Friday to review the ongoing process of granting land rights to sevayats and non-sevayats who have been residing on Puri Jagannath Temple’s land for a long period.
The proposed e-portal will enable people in possession of Lord Jagannath’s land to submit their details online, helping create a comprehensive database of landholders and facilitating a more systematic settlement process, officials said.
The Minister reviewed the proposed system and offered suggestions to make the portal more accessible and effective.
Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and Revenue Department Additional Chief Secretary Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Electronics and Information Technology Department Additional Chief Secretary Vishal Dev, Law Department Principal Secretary Pabitra Mohan Samal and Additional Secretary Shibaprasad Mahapatra attended the meeting.
Puri Collector Divyajyoti Parida joined the meeting virtually, while senior officials of OCAC and ONIC were also present.
