Odisha To Encounter Another Week Of Heavy Rain, Thunderstorm


Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain together with thunderstorm is likely to continue several parts of Odisha over the next one week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.

The weather agency has issued yellow warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms for different districts in the state till the morning of September 22. The intensity of rainfall is likely to drop for two days from September 16 to 18.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning of heavy rain for Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj districts during the next 24 hours. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph is also likely to occur over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada districts during the period.

Between September 16 and 18, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty wind of 30-40 kmph may occur in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.

On September 18-19, heavy rain is likely to lash Baleshwar, Jajpur, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorm activity with gusty wind is also expected at one or two places over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.

On September 19-20, heavy rain is likely over Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati and Ganjam, while thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind is likely over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.

From September 20 to 22, heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places over Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam districts.
