Odisha To Experience Dry Weather, 2-4°C Fall In Night Temp Amid Cold Wave In North India

Bhubaneswar: After a brief rain spell, dry weather conditions may prevail in Odisha till December 16, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Tuesday.

The weather agency has forecast shallow to moderate fog at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi and Kandhamal till Wednesday morning.

Bhubaneswar saw fog/mist this morning and clear sky thereafter.

The state is also likely to experience a drop in night temperature by 2-4 degree Celsius during the next 3 days.

In the last 24 hours, Koraput recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 14 degree Celsius in the state, followed by Jharsuguda and Kirei at 15.2 degree Celsius each, Rourkela at 15.5 degree Celsius, Boudh at 15.7 and Sundargarh at 15.8 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, the low-pressure area has become more marked over the southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal.. The system is  likely to continue to move west-northwestwards towards Sri-Lanka-Tamil Nadu coasts during the next 24 hours.

Cold Wave Warnings

Cold wave conditions are likely in isolated pockets in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad & West Uttar Pradesh on December 10-11, Uttarakhand on December 10; Rajasthan during December 10-13; Himachal Pradesh on December 10; Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Madhya Pradesh during December 10-14; West Uttar Pradesh on December 11-13.

Cold Day Warnings

Cold Day conditions are likely in isolated pockets of Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh on December 10-11.

Ground Frost Warnings

Ground Frost may occur in isolated pockets in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during December 10-12.

Dense Fog Warnings

Dense fog conditions may prevail during late night/early morning hours in isolated pockets of Gangetic West Bengal & Jharkhand on December 10; SubHimalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh on December 10-11; Himachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during December 10-12 morning hours.
