Bhubaneswar: Odisha came under the grip of a cold wave with the mercury plummeting below 15 degree Celsius at 19 places, Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed on Wednesday.

Daringbadi was the coldest at 7.5 degree Celsius, followed by Phulbani (10), Jharsuguda (10.8), Keonjhar (11.2), Titilagarh (11.3), Sundargarh (12), Sonepur (12.4), and Bhawanipata (12.9), Hirakud (13.2), Balangir (13.6), Chandbali (13.6), Koraput (13.8), Baripada, Sambalpur, and Talcher at 14 degree Celsius.

The minimum temperature in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was 14.5 degree Celsius

According to the MeT office, Odisha is likely to witness an increased spell of cold weather as north and northwest India’s dry and cold winds are expected to enter the state.

The temperature will plunge by 3 to 4 degrees in the next four to five days due to clearer nights, it said.

Owing to the widespread presence of water vapour in the upper reaches of the atmosphere, the temperature during daytime in most parts of the state is also expected to be below the normal with daytime fog, it added.
