Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is in the process of filling 5,989 vacant Nursing Officer posts in the state, the state Assembly was informed on Monday.
Sharing this information in a written reply, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling further stated that the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has recommended the names of 822 doctors for appointment,
He said the government had requested the OPSC to fill 5,248 posts of doctors in February, 2025. The Commission has so far recommended 822 doctors for appointment and forwarded their names to the department, the Minister said.
The doctors will be posted in different districts based on requirements, he added.
On the recruitment of Nursing Officers, Mahaling said there are 21,394 sanctioned posts in the state, of which 15,034 are currently filled.
As many as 6,360 Nursing Officer posts are vacant, and the selection process for filling 5,989 of these posts is currently underway through the Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC), he added
