Odisha To Have AI Cameras At Govt Offices In All Districts; VRS Option For Underperformers

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to monitor the punctuality of employees, the Odisha government is set to install AI cameras in its offices across the state.

At a high-level meeting held in Bhubaneswar, Secretary Manoj Ahuja directed officials to focus on certain key areas to improve governance and public service delivery.

Official sources said that the secretary level meeting sought to strengthen the functioning in the government offices especially the punctuality of the officials and the employees.

From punctuality, good governance to ‘perform or take VRS’ were some of the key focus areas of the meeting.

As per information, AI cameras will be installed at the offices in Kharabela Bhawan and Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar in the first phase. Subsequently in the other offices the cameras will be plugged in.

Instruction was also issued for the installation of AI-powered cameras in all district-level government offices to strengthen monitoring and accountability.

This apart, officials who fail to meet performance standards will be closely watched and may be offered voluntary retirement (VRS) as an option.

The government plans to launch a Chief Minister’s Dashboard by October to enable real-time tracking of service delivery progress. District Collectors will conduct monthly reviews of Central schemes, while the Forest & Environment and Revenue departments will have their own review schedules.

The Chief Secretary also stressed the importance of increasing expenditure for faster project implementation, prioritizing field visits, and enforcing strict compliance measures.

The aim is to improve administrative efficiency and ensure better service to the public across Odisha.
