Odisha To Have Exclusive Industrial Park & Special Cell For Women Entrepreneurs: CM

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will soon set up an exclusive industrial park for women entrepreneurs as a significant step to empower them, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Wednesday.

Speaking at ‘Women Business Leaders Roundtable’ on the second day of the ongoing Utkarsh Odisha conclave in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister said the proposed industrial park will specifically cater to women entrepreneurs and investors.

Majhi said that the initiative is designed to provide women with a dedicated space and resources tailored to their business needs. The move is part of a broader effort to enhance women’s participation in the state’s industrial sector.

At the same time, a dedicated cell for women entrepreneurs will also be opened at IPCOL Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister said.

This initiative will offer a unique facility complete with a dedicated cell for women entrepreneurs. The project seeks to foster greater involvement of women in the industrial sector, promoting both economic growth and gender equality in the state.

Affirming the state’s commitment to boosting opportunities for women entrepreneurs, Majhi said by setting up the park, the government is working towards a more inclusive industrial environment in the state

The government aims to facilitate easier access to markets and capital for women-led enterprises, breaking down barriers traditionally faced by female entrepreneurs.

The ‘Utkarsh Odisha’ industrial park is seen as a strategic step towards creating a business-friendly ecosystem for women, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship. It underscores Odisha’s dedication to not merely economic development but also social progress by ensuring women’s crucial role in the industrial domain.

In his address, the Chief Minister praised the successful women entrepreneurs saying, “Women have proven many times before that they can do more than men. Many people do not know how to ride a bicycle, but our women are piloting fighter planes today.”

Stressing that the state government has paved the way for women to become entrepreneurs, the CM said an outlay of more than Rs 75,000 crore has been provided in this year’s budget for the welfare of women. Subhadra Yojana is one such initiative to empower women and enable them to launch small businesses, Majhi added.
