Odisha To Have Flying Institute, 3 Skill Training Centres For NCC Cadets

Bhubaneswar: A flight training centre for NCC cadets will be established at the Jharsuguda airport in Odisha, it was officially announced on Monday.

The decision was taken during a meeting between Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Director General of NCC Lt General Gurbirpal Singh at the Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

The Odisha government has provisioned Rs 1.5 crore for setting up a hangar at the Jharsuguda airport as part of the establishment of the flight training institute, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said in a press release.

This apart, it has also been decided to set up three skill training centres for NCC cadets of the state. These training centres will come up in Cuttack, Berhampur and Sambalpur. Five acres of land have already been identified for this purpose in Cuttack and Berhampur, while 10 acres will be allocated in Sambalpur.

During the meeting, it was revealed that the number of NCC cadets in Odisha currently stands at 60,000, which will be increased to 90,000. To achieve this, NCC units will be established in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and other schools across the state.

Additionally, the state government will provide officers and staff for the establishment of an NCC Group Headquarters in Koraput.
