Odisha To Receive Another 2 Lakh Doses Of Covishield Today

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to receive another two lakh doses of Covishield vaccine by today night, informed Director, Health & Family Welfare, Bijay Panigrahi.

The Health Director hoped that the vaccination process will normalise from Monday once the state receives this lot of vaccines. At present the state has a stock of three lakh doses of Covishield which will be helpful in continuing the drive for two day, he said .

According to reports, nearly 1000 vaccination centres have been closed due to acute shortage of vaccine and the inoculation drive was underway at only 427 centres on Sunday.

On Saturday, too the vaccination process was conducted at 427 centres. The drive has come to a total halt in 8 Odisha districts, mostly those bordering Chhattisgarh in view of the shortage.

On Friday too, the vaccination was badly affected and the number of inoculations came down to only around 91,195 from over two lakh a few days earlier.

Only 781 of 1,476 session sites were open for inoculation in 29 districts and it was a no vaccination day for Koraput district due to the non-availability of doses.
