Odisha To Receive Another 3 Lakh Doses Of Covishield Vaccine Today

Bhubaneswar: While COVID-19 vaccination has been stopped at 800 session sites in Odisha, the Health and Family Welfare Department on Friday informed that another three lakh doses of Covishield will arrive in the state this afternoon.

Briefing the media, Health and Family Welfare Director Bijay Panigrahi said that the vaccines will arrive in a special cargo flight from Serum Institute of India (SII), Pune.

“While 1050 session sites were active on Thursday, vaccination will be held at only 700 session sites today due to vaccine shortage,” he said.

He said that the fresh consignment of vaccines to be received today will be sent to the vaccination centres in the districts, where the inoculation drive will resume from Sunday.

Panigrahi said that since the commencement of the COVID vaccination in Odisha on January 16, a total of 48,10,780 people have been vaccinated so far.

Talking about the fresh consignment of the vaccines, Panigrahi said that the three lakh doses will be exhausted in the next two days. “Due to the shortage of vaccines, more than 800 session sites have been closed while the vaccination is stopped in all session sites in Koraput district,” he pointed out.

Referring to the schedule of vaccination in 10 border districts, he said that there will be no vaccination in these districts on Saturday and Sunday due to the weekend shutdown announced by the state government.
