Bhubaneswar: A week after receiving the first consignment of Covishield and Covaxin vaccines, Odisha will receive the second consignment on Tuesday.
Sources in the Health and Family Welfare Department said the Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) is scheduled to dispatch the second consignment of 33,450 vials (3,34,500 doses).
These will arrive in a SpiceJet cargo flight from Pune at Biju Patnaik International Airport in the city around 4.25 pm.
Following this, the vials will be taken to the State Vaccine Store on the premises of the office of the Odisha State Medical Corporation Ltd (OSMCL) at Mancheswar.
It may be recalled that out of a total of 3.28 lakh health workers shortlisted for the vaccination, about 1.92 lakh will be vaccinated in the first phase that is scheduled to be completed by January 25.
Out of 1.92 health workers in Odisha, 13,980 were vaccinated on the first day of the vaccination drive on January 16 (Saturday) and 32,526 more got the shot on Monday.
To complete the first-phase vaccination by January 25, the Health and Family Welfare Department has increased the number of sessions.
As decided, the vaccination of the remaining health workers there will be 192 sessions on January 19, 92 on January 20, 436 on January 21, 141 on January 22, 178 on January 23 and 279 on January 25.
