Odisha To Replicate NDRF Model To Deal With Health Emergency & Disaster

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, the state government has decided to boost the capacity of healthcare and paramedical staff to effectively deal with any health disaster in the state.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the empowered group of ministers at the Lok Seva Bhawan here.

Briefing the media after the meeting, Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das said a health disaster mitigation training centre will be set up for doctors, nurses, health workers, Anganwadi workers, ASHA and paramedic to meeting any health disaster in the state.

“The proposed training centre will be set up in line with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF),” the minister said.

Talking about the steps being taken to contain the spread of COVID-19, Das said that the Health Department has decided to conduct a massive pool test of the virus at the community level to identify the infected patient at the earliest.

“We have decided to ready testing facilities in all government medical college and hospitals in the state and increase the number of test to about 3000 a day,” he added.
