Bhubaneswar: The first instalment of Rs 5,000 will be credited to the accounts of eligible beneficiaries registered under Subhadra Yojana, marking the beginning of this ambitious programme of the Odisha government, after its launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Tuesday.

Subhadra Yojana launch will be one of the key events of the day in Bhubaneswar during which the PM will also lay the foundation for multiple development projects worth Rs 3,800 crore.

Taking to his X handle, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday hailed it as a momentous day towards fulfilment of promises and empowerment of Nari Shakti. The poster shared with it mentions that the application process for Subhadra Yojana is on and there is no closing date.

“Till the last beneficiary gets the benefit of Subhadra scheme, registrations will continue. There is no scope for any doubt about the implementation of the scheme, which is aimed at empowering women. Over 60 lakh women have already registered for the scheme. Those registered on or before September 15 will receive the first instalment of Rs 5,000 on September 17,” Parida said while participating in the Subhadra Swagat Padyatra, a procession to welcome the scheme on Sunday.

Re 1 was also transferred to the accounts of those registered under the scheme to test the transaction’s success, the previous day.

This initiative is expected to benefit over 1 crore women in the age group of 21 to 60 years. Starting from the financial year 2024-25, they will receive Rs 10,000 annually, credited in two equal instalments to their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, totaling to Rs 50,000 over a period of five years.

With the launch, Subhadra Yojana will join the growing list of women-centric schemes across India.

Ladli Behna Yojana

The Madhya Pradesh government on January 28, 2023, announced implementation of ‘Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana’, for women’s health and nutrition and economic self-reliance. Under this scheme, an amount of Rs 1,250 per month (earlier Rs 1000) is to be paid to each eligible woman in her Aadhaar-inked DBT enabled bank account. This translates to an annual sum of Rs 15,000 deposited into the bank accounts of eligible women aged 21-60 years old.

The scheme targets women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and aims to improve their financial independence and provide for their basic needs.

Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin

In a financial support initiative ahead of Raksha Bandhan, the Maharashtra government launched its flagship scheme on August 17. More than one crore women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in the state receive Rs 1,500 per month as direct financial assistance. The scheme, which is part of the state’s supplementary budget, is set to cost Rs 46,000 crore annually to the state exchequer.
