Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is taking necessary steps to implement both Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri – Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) in the state in February 2025.
This was stated by Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Monday. Over 3.5 crore people will get health cards in the state and no one will be deprived of the health insurance schemes, he told reporters.
Stating that the Central team has made survey for implementation of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, the Minister said that the state government is committed to increase the number of medical colleges and nursing colleges in the new year to strengthen the healthcare sector.
As per sources, an MoU is likely to be signed for implementation of Ayushman Bharat Yojana along with the state’s Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana to provide free healthcare services to economically vulnerable families.
Over 3.50 crore beneficiaries will get special cards to avail this free medical treatment under the healthcare insurance scheme in 27,000 empanelled hospitals in the state and outside.
