Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education department has decided to discontinue ‘Career and Counselling Cells’ in all 52 government colleges in Odisha.
These were set up in the Degree Colleges in 2018 to bridge the employability gap and establish a link with the job market to facilitate placements for the students.
“Now after review, the government has been pleased to discontinue the functioning of career and counselling cells as it has failed in attaining its objectives,” said the official letter.
The department has directed the principals to refund the unspent amount lying with the colleges under the head of ‘Career and Counseling’ along with the interest accrued on the unspent amount till date. The colleges have been asked to refund the amount by February 28.
