Bhubaneswar: Only 10 doses or one vial of Covaxin vaccine are in stock, which will be administered in Odisha’s Rayagada district, informed Nodal Officer of Covid vaccination Bijay Panigrahi.
Panigrahi said the COVID vaccination programme will come to an end from Sunday onwards after the administration of the last doses and will not be carried out in other districts.
“Other vaccines — Covishield and Corbevax — are out of stock for a long time as the Centre has stopped supplying those to any state since October 12,” Panigrahi told media.
With this, Odisha will join the list of states that have successfully completed the programme.
It is pertinent to mention here that the nationwide COVID vaccination programme was launched in Odisha on January 16, 2021, in which the healthcare workers and frontline warriors were administered the vaccines in the first phase followed by senior citizens and others who availed in other phases.
According to the COWIN website, 8,14,54,064 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in Odisha, of which 3,52,49,736 (97%) have taken the first dose and 3,30,00,164 (91%) have been administered the second dose. Only 1,31,89,112 (40%) beneficiaries have received the precautionary dose against COVID.
