Balangir: The death toll in the gas cylinder explosion that took place in Belapada area of Odisha’s Balangir district last week mounted to four on Friday as another victim succumbed to burns during treatment.
According to sources, six members of a family were critically injured with severe burns after a gas cylinder exploded inside their house in at Katugaon Uparapada village under Belapada area of the district on February 10.
All six people were watching television inside the house when the cylinder in the kitchen caught fire and exploded.
The injured were rescued by locals and rushed to Kantabanji Community Health Centre (CHC) in critical condition. They were later shifted to a private hospital in Rourkela.
While one of them died on February 12, two others succumbed to injuries on Thursday. Another person died during treatment on Friday, raising the toll in the incident to four.
