Bhubaneswar: Odisha beat Bengal 3-0 to top pool E and qualify for the quarterfinals of the 14th Hockey India Junior Women’s National Championship being played in Ranchi.
Tanuja Toppo opened Odisha’s account when she scored from a penalty corner after 27 minutes. Changing ends with a slender one-goal advantage, doubled their lead through captain Mundari Sumi in the 38th minute. Bahala Surekha completed the tally in the final quarter.
Mundari received the Man of the Match award for her outstanding performance.
Odisha will face neighbours Chhattisgarh in the knockout round, after the latter whipped Delhi 6-1 to emerge Pool D winners.
