New Delhi: Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who is facing multiple cases of extortion, has written to Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw seeking his permission to donate Rs 10 crore for victims of the horrific triple-train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district earlier this month.
The conman mentioned in his letter addressed to Vaishnaw that the contribution is from his personal fund which is from his “legitimate source” of earning.
Sukesh, who is behind the bars, said the fund can be used for the education of children who lost their parents in the accident.
The Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, Yeshvanthpur-Howrah Superfast Express and a goods train were involved in the accident which claimed 290 lives and injured over 1,000 people. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the accident after Railways Board recommended it.
Sukesh stated that the “unfortunate mishap” has touched him deeply, and his “heart and prayers” are with all those sisters, brothers and their families.
“As our government is already providing all the needful to the affected, I, as a responsible and good citizen, am contributing this fund of Rs 10 crore as a fund to be used specifically for those families/ children, our future youth, who have lost their loved one/ breadwinners of their family towards their education expenses.
