New Delhi: Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who is facing multiple cases of extortion, has written to Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw seeking his permission to donate Rs 10 crore for victims of the horrific triple-train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district earlier this month.

The conman mentioned in his letter addressed to Vaishnaw that the contribution is from his personal fund which is from his “legitimate source” of earning.

Sukesh, who is behind the bars, said the fund can be used for the education of children who lost their parents in the accident.

The Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, Yeshvanthpur-Howrah Superfast Express and a goods train were involved in the accident which claimed 290 lives and injured over 1,000 people. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the accident after Railways Board recommended it.

Sukesh stated that the “unfortunate mishap” has touched him deeply, and his “heart and prayers” are with all those sisters, brothers and their families.

“As our government is already providing all the needful to the affected, I, as a responsible and good citizen, am contributing this fund of Rs 10 crore as a fund to be used specifically for those families/ children, our future youth, who have lost their loved one/ breadwinners of their family towards their education expenses. The contribution to be specifically used for that every child of the deceased for their education expenses, be it school, high school, college education,” Sukesh wrote.

Sukesh, who extorted money from politicians, celebrities and businessmen, duped former Ranbaxy owner Shivinder Mohan Singh’s wife Aditi Singh of Rs 200 crore. Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez is also an accused in the money-laundering case registered by Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Sukesh and his actor wife Leena Maria Paul were arrested by Delhi Police for their alleged roles in the case.
