Odisha Train Crash: WB CM Mamata Banerjee Meets Injured At SCB MCH, Says ‘Truth’ Must Come Out

Cuttack: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said that the truth regarding the triple train accident in Odishs that claimed 288 lives must come out.

The statement of Mamata, who met the injured in train tragedy at SCB Medical College and Hosptial in Cuttack, came after leader of opposition in West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari  reportedly alleged that her Trinamool Congress was behind the tragedy.

“Truth must not be suppressed as several lives have been lost. It is not a time to argue. We want to help people…,” the West Bengal Chief Minister told reporters during her visit to the hospital.

Mamata further informed that both Odisha and West Bengal governments are working together and providing free treatment.

Stating that 103 bodies belonging to West Bengal have been identified and 97 people are under treatment, she said that 31 people from her state are still missing.

Meanwhile, CBI on Tuesday registered a case related to the triple train crash, involving Coromandel Express, Yashwantpur-Howrah Express and a goods train at Bahanaga Bazar in Balasore district on June 2 evening in which at least 288 people were killed and over 1000 injured.

During her visit to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Mamata went to the eye and surgery departments  and interacted with the patients and assured them of all possible help.

“We are trying to help the injured in all possible ways and had already dispatched teams of doctors, nurses and officers to take care of the injured passengers on the night of the accident on June 2,” she said.

The West Bengal CM said there are 57 injured passengers from West Bengal in SCB Medical College.

“Some have lost their limbs, some of them have lost their eyes. It’s such a tragedy that cannot be described through words,” she added.
