Balasore: Train movement was disrupted on the downline as soil underneath the railway track near Nidhipanda in Odisha’s Balasore district was washed away following incessant rains on Wednesday.
Sources said that Bhadrak-Kharagpur Memu passenger train was halted near Amara bridge close to Haladipada station while trains were moving at restricted speed of 10km/hour on the upline. Many passengers were also seen walking on the tracks towards their respective destinations.
Repair work is on at war-footing, the sources added.
Notably, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning of heavy rainfall for one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapada during next 24 hours.
