Dubai: In order to encourage the tribal artists, the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi organised an exhibition of their paintings in Dubai.
Satish Kumar Shivan, Consul General of India, Dubai inaugurated the exhibition at a function presided by eminent sand artist and president of Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi Sudarsan Pattnaik on March 12.
As many as 15 tribal artists from Odisha drew their paintings and exhibited those before global audience at Hyatt Place Dubai Al Rigga. The exhibition concluded on Thursday.
The art works were based on Odishan tribal culture especially the paintings of Sauras, Santhals, Kolhas and Kandhas. The tribal artists belonged to Rayagada, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts.
Several artists were also felicitated on the occasion. Madhusudan Das, special secretary, Odia Language, Literature and Culture department of Odisha government and Panchanan Samal, secretary, Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi were present.
