Bhubaneswar: The state government on Monday issued the schedule for completion of delimitation of wards and reservation of seats for the upcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) elections.
In a directive to the commissioners of the Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Berhampur municipal corporations on January 1, the state Housing and Urban Development Department asked them to take immediate steps to complete the delimitation of wards and reservation of seats within the specified schedule.
The state government had on December 30 passed an ordinance for fresh delimitation of wards and reservation of seats for elections to the three municipal corporations.
Following is the schedule issued by the state government:
Jan 3
Deadline for Collectors to submit fresh delimitation and seat reservation report of wards in 107 municipalities/NACs (except those located in scheduled areas).
Jan 5
Deadline for the three corporations to submit information on division of wards in Form I and II along with sketch maps of ward boundaries and reservation of seats.
Jan 7
Deadline to submit draft notifications inviting objections and suggestions on proposed delimitation and reservation exercise.
Jan 12: Deadline for District Magistrates (DMs) to receive objections and suggestions on delimitation and reservation of seats.
Jan 13: DMs to issue draft notification for the same.
Jan 16
Last date for receipt of objections/suggestions by the government.
Jan 27: Deadline to receive appeals against publication of notifications.
The date of issuance of final notification on delimitation and reservation by the Collectors will be intimated later.
