Bhubaneswar: The BJD appears headed for a sweep in the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections in Odisha, early trends from counting of votes, which is currently under way, show.
In counting of votes for Councillors and Corporators, the BJD is leading in 1,106, followed by BJP in 274, Congress in 128 and others 100.
In counting trends so far for Municipality/NAC Chairperson posts, BJD is leading in 74, BJP in 18, Congress in 7 and others 9.
Sulochana Das, BJD Mayor candidate for the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), is leading with 8,061 votes.
Counting of votes for Mayor and other posts in the BMC started late, delayed by over two hours, according to reports.
For Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Mayor post, the BJD is now leading with 10,676 votes. After the second round of counting, the Congress was leading.
