Cuttack: The Odisha government will build a law park in the city to commemorate legal luminaries and legendary lawyers in the country.
The proposed park will be set up on the bank of Kathajodi river near Gandhi Memorial Park, informed the Additional Secretary of Language, Literature and Culture Department, Ranjan Kumar Das.
Das said this after visiting the site with the Cuttack Collector, Bhabani Shankar Chayani, on Saturday. “The place is appropriate for the law park in every aspect,” he added.
According to government sources, this project is a joint effort by the Water Resource Department, Works Department and Culture Department.
The park will be built on around 40 to 50 acres of land. The statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nahru, Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das and other notable personalities will be installed on the park premises. It will also house a law library and museum, the sources said.
Das said the park will hugely benefit officials coming for training at Judicial Academy in Cuttack and law students.
A DPR on the park will be prepared soon, he added.
