Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday requested Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bharat Biotech to send Covishield and Covaxin vaccines for the next four months to help the state meet its monthly vaccination target.
In a letter to SII chairman and managing director, Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Pradipta Mohapatra said considering that Phase-III COVID vaccination drive for people above 18 years is scheduled from May 1, the state needs 40 lakh doses of Covishield for May and 60 lakh doses per month for June, July and August.
In another letter to Bharat Biotech, Mohapatra requested the company to comply with Rs 62.04 crore purchase orders of 10.34 lakh doses of Covaxin (5 lakh doses by May 31 and 5.34 lakh doses by June 15) at Rs 600 per dose.
