Puri: The second phase of COVID-19 vaccination of sevayats of the Jagannath temple here will begin from Friday.
Puri Collector Samarth Verma said the sevayats aged 45 years and above will be vaccinated during the second phase on the premises of Utkal Hindi Vidyapeeth.
Verma informed that over 900 sevayats have been vaccinated since the first phase of vaccination began on March 16.
The collector also said besides the vaccination of the sevayats, ASHA and Anganwadi workers will conduct a door-to-door health survey of the family members of the sevayats across the town. The sevayats and their family members will also be given homoeopathic medicines to boost their immunity.
Asked about the decision to close the Jagannath temple on Saturdays, Verma clarified that no final decision has been taken.
